A wider choice of media for the XDCAM EX range

The innovative XDCAM EX professional product line is specifically designed to take full advantage of the speed, performance, and reliability of SxS PRO and SxS-1 cards. However, SxS cards are professional media not available to the general public. Therefore, Sony developed the MEAD-SD02 adapter (which replaces the MEAD-SD01) to enable the use of consumer-grade SD cards.

The MEAD-MSD02 adapter has the same shape as SxS cards and therefore fits perfectly into the dedicated slots of XDCAM EX camcorders, with no protruding parts, ensuring the cover is completely closed during filming. The adapter accepts an SDHC or SDXC card in the designated slot.

Note: Slow-motion recording is not recommended due to the data transfer rate limitations of SD Card media. The adapter and SD Card media are also slightly less reliable than SxS cards. Exercise caution when turning off an XDCAM EX camera while recording. XDCAM EX cameras may require a software update to use the MEAD-SD02 adapter. Strengths

• Designed for the XDCAM EX range: The MEAD-SD02 has been specially designed by Sony to work with XDCAM EX equipment and Class 10 SD Card such as Sony’s UX series SD cards (SF-16UX, SF-32UX), or SDXC UHS-1 cards.
• Similar shape to ExpressCard : The MEAD-SD02 adapter has the shape of the ExpressCard/34 so that it can be slid into the ExpressCard slot of XDCAM EX camcorders and other devices compatible with ExpressCard media, such as Windows or Mac computers.
• Computer Compatibility: SD Card media used with the MEAD-SD02 on XDCAM EX hardware are compatible with all PCs without requiring additional drivers. XDCAM EX folders and files are displayed in the non-linear editing system window or in the Clip Browser software, just like SxS cards.
• Compatibility with the PXU-MS240: The 240GB PXU-MS240 external hard drive, designed for SxS cards, is fully compatible with the MEAD-SD02 adapter. Simply insert the adapter with the SD card into the PXU-MS240 to save content to the hard drive.

Remarks :

This adapter is not compatible with the SBAC-US10.

The models above support SDHC cards only.

Operation is not guaranteed with SDXC cards.
