Description

LMD-B series Full HD monitor, thin and light (1920 x 1080), with excellent value for money

The LMD-B170 LCD monitor from the LMD-B series offers Full HD resolution. It boasts the advantages of similar weight and power consumption to Sony’s previous, smaller 15-inch models, along with a 24% reduction in depth. The LMD-B series monitor features convenient functions, the same user interface design, and the same operational efficiency as Sony’s PVM-A series OLED monitors and LMD-A series premium LCD monitors. This consistency across the PVM-A, LMD-A, and LMD-B series allows users to easily work with all three monitors and integrate them into the same work environment. Thanks to its DC power operation and wall-mounting capability, the LMD-B series monitors provide a cost-effective and versatile solution for a wide range of professional applications. Furthermore, the LMD-B170 monitor incorporates a natural ventilation system, eliminating audio disturbances caused by an internal fan. This makes it ideal for shooting and operations where sound is critical.

Standard 17-inch screen and Full HD resolution

The LMD-B170 monitor’s standard 17-inch screen size is ideal for a wide variety of applications, from desktop use and wall mounting to boom arm and wide-angle shooting. Its Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution is approximately 200% higher than Wide-XGA (1366 x 768 or 1280 x 768), providing sharp focus for pixel-by-pixel control of Full HD video without resizing.

Elegant, lightweight and compact chassis

The monitor features a robust and stylish chassis with beveled edges. Its lighter weight and low power consumption make it economical and allow you to save space and reduce clutter in digital galleries. The monitor is also ideal for standalone applications such as basic non-linear editing, audio control rooms, simple video monitoring, or shooting. It is easy to transport.

Simple all-in-one design with front stereo speakers and natural ventilation system

The LMD-B170 monitor derives its all-in-one design from Sony’s PVM-A and LMD-A series. It features essential interfaces such as SDI, HDMI, and composite video with analog stereo sound. You can monitor the built-in audio signals from an SDI signal on the monitor’s audio bar graph. The front-facing 2W + 2W stereo speakers are more powerful than a monaural speaker or a rear speaker system, providing a good stereo effect. It can be powered by both AC and DC without an external power adapter. The included stand offers tilt adjustment and a 100mm x 100mm wall-mounting function, making it more versatile. Its natural ventilation system ensures the elimination of fan noise.

Greater ease of use in a group of Sony PVM/LMD monitors

With the same operational efficiency as the PVM-A and LMD-A series, you can easily switch between them when using monitors from different product lines on a single system. You can easily select the best screen for a given function, based on your requirements for functionality, quality, and budget.

Essential functions selected for basic video operations

The LMD-B170 features crucial functions such as markers, WFM/Vector, audio bar graph, timecode display, camera focus assist, side-by-side, H/V switching, and on-screen tally. The user reset function allows for quick and easy restoration of the monitor’s default settings. This is especially useful if a user is unfamiliar with the monitor’s settings. The LMD-B170 can also be used in seven languages (German, English, Chinese, Spanish, French, Italian, and Japanese).

Specifications

Lightweight, compact, with low power consumption

The LMD-B170 monitor boasts a unique, lightweight, and compact design. Its weight and power consumption are similar to previous 15-inch models, despite a 2-inch larger screen. Its depth is reduced by more than 24%.

Optimized low-latency I/P conversion

The I/P conversion system ensures automatic optimization of signal processing based on input signals, with low latency (less than 0.5 fields). This system allows users to perform editing and monitoring for live production.

Wide selection of video inputs

The LMD-B170 monitor is equipped with built-in standard input interfaces: HD/SD-SDI (x2), HDMI input (HDCP) (x1) and composite (x1).

Wide selection of PC inputs

Multiple computer signals can be received via an HDMI/DVI interface; the resolution range is between 640 x 480 and 1680 x 1050 pixels.

Waveform monitor, Vector Scope and sound level measurement display

A waveform and Vector Scope of the input signal, along with the 2-channel SDI audio level metering function, can be displayed on the screen. The waveform of a specific line can also be shown. In conjunction with the Picture-and-Picture function, the waveform display and Vector Scope can monitor two camera signals. Additionally, an audio level meter can display the embedded audio signal from the SDI or HDMI input. It can display channels 1 through 8 or 9 through 16 on the screen.

Stereo speakers at the front

The front stereo speakers (2W + 2W) are more powerful than a single speaker or a rear speaker system and provide a good stereo effect. You can select audio sources from the built-in audio system or analog audio.

User-friendly interface and operation

This monitor features an intuitive user interface ideal for video production. Input and function selection is easy with a single click. The encoder’s rotary knob simplifies element selection and input. The illuminated control panel offers excellent readability in the dark. This user interface, including the on-screen menu display, is meticulously designed for time-sensitive operations, whether used as a standalone unit or as part of a multi-unit system thanks to Sony’s various professional monitor ranges.

Homogeneity in the design of the PVM/LMD-A series monitors

The LMD-B170 monitor offers the same features and operational efficiency as the PVM-A and LMD-A series monitors. Furthermore, they share a consistent control panel design. In other words, these types of monitors can be operated and controlled in the same way.

User reset, key lock, user shortcuts for function key configuration

When multiple users share the same monitor, you need to reset it quickly. The user reset function reconfigures the unit with its default settings. Key lock protects the required settings from accidental activation. To improve the speed of function key configuration, the user can use a shortcut to the settings menu screen by simply pressing one of the function keys.

Camera focusing aid

The LMD-B170 monitor can control and increase the aperture level of a video signal and display images with highlighted edges on the screen to aid camera focusing. Furthermore, for more precise focusing, the highlighted edges can be displayed in user-selectable colors (white, red, green, blue, and yellow).

Timecode function

The LTC and VITC timecode can be displayed at the top or bottom of the image.

Side-by-Side Function

The LMD-B170 monitor’s Side-by-Side function allows for the simultaneous display of two input signals on the monitor screen. This function makes it easy to adjust camera colors and framing settings. This function is available when receiving synchronous SDI signals.

Tally lamp on screen

The monitor also features a three-color (red, green, and yellow) on-screen tally lamp. The tally display can be positioned at the top or bottom of the screen.

Toggle functions

The flip function restores the inverted image for standard viewing, either horizontally or vertically.

DC low power indicator

DC power is available in a range of 12V to 17V. The power indicator flashes when the DC power is low.

Wall mounting function

The monitor’s rear panel also features 100mm holes for wall mounting. An integrated AC circuit breaker allows for easier and more flexible installation than a monitor with a power adapter.

Natural ventilation system

There is no cooling fan inside, making the monitor suitable for video shooting and operations where sound is critical.
