TheZeiss Compact Prime CP.2 135mm / T2.1 PL mount lens is a « cine prime » type lens, designed for cinema and video production. Combined with the manufacturer’s extensive knowledge of optics and mechanics, it offers excellent compatibility in terms of equipment, follow focus, and shooting capabilities.

Announced at NAB 2012, this lens is a long telephoto lens, completing the Zeiss cinema lens, the Compact Prime family. Like the rest of the range, it features an interchangeable mount system, an undeniable advantage.

Not only can it be used on various mounts, but it is also guaranteed not to become obsolete due to incompatibility with future capture devices used in digital cinema. The system offers compatibility with PL, EF, F, MFT, and E mounts. The Zeiss website provides extensive information and recommendations on how to disassemble one mount for assembly with another.

The five compatible mounts therefore allow use with cinema cameras, but also with the vast majority of DSLRs.

The Zeiss CP2 135mm lens: art and versatility

The CP2 135mm is ideal for portrait and product photography. Its focal length provides sufficient distance to avoid distortion and a very useful angle of view for focusing on both the foreground and background. The shallow depth of field, typical of telephoto lenses, perfectly isolates the foreground from the background.

The optics and mechanics are equally impressive, boasting a quality far superior to the average. The optics include two aspherical lenses and two types of special dispersive glass, which correct chromatic aberrations with remarkable precision.

40 high-precision blades come together to form a circular iris at each notch, providing impressive light highlights on out-of-focus areas, and producing a light, but very appreciable bokeh.
