Connectivity:
The latest generation of affordable 4K displays uses an HDMI 2.0 connection, allowing the entire 4K signal to be transmitted over a single cable. Traditional professional workflows use four SDI cables to carry the full resolution of 4K signals, complicating the integration of this new type of monitoring. The OG-Hi5-4K-Plus is an easy-to-use converter that bridges these two worlds for universal integration.
HDR
, or High Dynamic Range, provides the ability to display a wider range of colors, much whiter whites, and much darker blacks than standard signals allow. These images offer a more dynamic appearance and allow viewers to perceive colors that closely resemble those seen by human vision.
The OG-Hi5-4K Plus offers this support for your 4K/UltraHD/HD HDR workflows via compatible HDMI displays by generating HDR metadata in accordance with the HDMI v2.0a/CTA-861.3 standard. The OG-Hi5-4K-Plus also provides HLG, for Hybrid Log-Gamma, compatibility for HDR displays via HDMI.
4K and UltraHD:
Standard 4K signals use a resolution of 4096×2160 pixels, while UltraHD signals are 3840×2160. This difference can prevent the use of certain monitors in full 4K workflows, or conversely, in UltraHD workflows. The OG-Hi5-4K-Plus can compensate for this resolution difference, allowing the use of UltraHD TVs in 4K productions and vice versa for UltraHD productions.
The OG-Hi5-4K-Plus is also compatible with high frame rate (HFR) input signals. It accepts 4K/UltraHD input signals at 50 or 60p and outputs them at up to 60p for proper viewing on compatible HDMI 2.0 displays.
HD Support:
Not all work is in 4K. When you’re not shooting in 4K, the OG-Hi5-4K-Plus can still be useful for converting HD-SDI signals to HDMI. A simple HD-SDI input signal into the OG-Hi5-4K-Plus will be output in HD resolution via HDMI.
Audio
Up to 8 channels of audio embedded in the incoming SDI signal will be routed to the HDMI output, ensuring your audio is perfectly synchronized for easy playback via the connected monitor.
Flexible I/O
The modular back panel allows for custom I/O connections per card (included with each card).
Safety:
The optional backup power supply provides a secondary power source to compensate for primary power failures.
Ethernet Access:
A standard Ethernet connection allows access to the entire chassis via the Dashboard application for all communications. Optional Ethernet access via a card can be installed for more advanced communications with compatible openGear cards.
