Description
Key features:
Flat, extended frequency response with a slight boost in the high-frequency region
Low-mass diaphragm improves transient response, increases bandwidth, and reduces
mechanical and handling noise transfer
Transformerless circuitry delivers virtually no low-frequency distortion and
excellent transient response
Rugged, spun brass microphone body for long-lasting reliability
State-of-the-art design and manufacturing techniques ensure compliance with A-T’s stringent standards of consistency and reliability
The AT4041 is designed for use in professional applications where an
external power source is already available. It requires 48V DC phantom power, which can be supplied by a mixer or console, or by a separate daisy-chained source such as the
Audio-Technica AT8801 single-channel or CP8506 four-channel phantom power supply.
The microphone’s XLRM connector output is a balanced, low-impedance (Lo-Z) output. The signal is present on pins 2 and 3; pin 1 is ground (shield). The output phase is on pin 2, the « hot » pinpositive acoustic pressure generates a positive voltage on pin 2.
To avoid phase cancellation and poor sound quality, all microphone cables must be consistently connected: pin 1 to pin 1, etc.
A built-in 80 Hz high-pass filter allows for easy switching from a flat frequency response to bass attenuation. The high-pass setting makes the microphone less susceptible to pops when used to the microphone for vocals. It also reduces sensitivity to low-frequency ambient noise (from traffic, ventilation systems, etc.), room reverberation, and mechanically coupled vibrations.
Avoid leaving the microphone in direct sunlight or in locations where the temperature exceeds 43°C (110°F) for extended periods. Excessive humidity should also be avoided.
