The lens features a variable-speed electronic zoom. The electronic zoom is powered by a Super Sonic Wave Motor (SSM), offering precision and, above all, quiet operation. To meet the demands of film production, the focus and iris are also made as smooth as possible and equally silent.
Variations in the angle of view during focusing and axial movements inherent to zooming have been reduced, while five aspherical elements minimize distortion and chromatic aberration.
Control rings for managing zoom, focus, and aperture are provided, while the focus mode can be switched from automatic to manual by sliding the focus ring. Control is therefore guaranteed in all circumstances. The three control rings have been designed to provide comfortable and intuitive operation, and are also non-slip.
A constant f/4 aperture offers consistent performance throughout the zoom range. This is a particularly valuable feature, especially beneficial at high magnifications in low light.
