Introducing Rycote Super-Softie

The Rycote Super-Softie combines a new aerodynamic shape, a new surface structure, and a new material: 3D-Tex, offering excellent acoustic transparency and superb wind noise attenuation. Its lack of a rigid internal structure virtually eliminates polar distortion issues, making it extremely robust and suitable for harsh environments such as ENG.

3D-Tex contributes to an astonishing reduction in wind noise thanks to its internal layered structure and surface finish. It retains its acoustic properties even under adverse conditions. If the Super-Softie becomes soaked, simply remove it and shake it: 3D-Tex dries very quickly. If it gets dirty, a quick rinse under running water will not affect its performance.

The shape and structure of the Super-Softie allow for significantly greater reduction of wind noise in the extremely low and infrasonic frequencies (where the wind’s greatest energy is located) than previous generation models. Initial noise reduction can exceed 30dB with extremely low acoustic artifacts. Finally, thanks to its thin walls, the Super-Softie will not suffer any of the high-frequency losses inherent in large foam windscreens.
