Digital audio processing

Advanced digital audio processing technology delivers high-quality sound with improved transient response performance. A new [optional] audio interface enables direct digital audio recording with several Sony professional cameras and Alpha interchangeable-lens cameras via the SMAD-P5 Multi Interface (MI) Shoe Adapter, bypassing A/D and D/A conversion steps to ensure excellent sound quality.

Ideal camera integration

The integration of compatible Sony cameras* (requires a SMAD-P5 Multi-Interface Shoe Adapter) displays audio information such as the RF bar graph, mute status, and low battery alerts from the transmitter in the camera’s viewfinder. With the SMAD-P5, audio signals are transmitted from the receiver to the camera without the need for a cable connection. The wireless receiver can also be powered by the camera, with camera power on/off synchronized with the receiver for more efficient power management.
